V-Control Pro Midi Mode

Custom MIDI Control

Previously, it was impossible to use D-Command, C24, Control 24, and Pro Control surfaces as MIDI controllers. V-Control Pro’s Midi Mode connects faders, encoders, and buttons to the ‘V-Control Midi Mode’ virtual MIDI port as MIDI continuous controllers. Then use custom midi mapping features in your MIDI application to optimize your workflow. Midi Mode works alongside V-Control Pro’s DAW integration. Just tap one button to switch between DAW Mode and Midi Mode. If you don’t connect to a DAW, the surface defaults to Midi Mode.

D-Command

V-Control Pro Midi Mode makes D-Command the ultimate DAW controller. For most DAW modes, three sections of D-Command are dedicated to Midi Mode control: EQ, Dynamics, and the top encoder row. This means that while you are using the main parts of the surface for mixing, up to 42 encoders can be mapped to anything your DAW allows. If you need more, just tap the ‘Midi Event List’ button to toggle the entire surface between Midi Mode and DAW Mode. Incredible control.

C24

V-Control Pro connects C24 to popular DAWs for great integrated mix control. And now with Midi Mode, the entire surface can be custom mapped to your DAW for incredible control. Just tap C24’s ‘Focus’ button to toggle it to Midi Mode. Now all twenty-four faders, encoders, mutes, solos, records, selects, and more operate as MIDI controllers. Toggle back to DAW mode with the ‘Focus’ button. Simple and powerful.

Control 24

V-Control Pro connects Control 24 to popular DAWs for great integrated mix control. And now with Midi Mode, the entire surface can be custom mapped to your DAW for incredible control. Just tap Control 24’s ‘Monitor/0’ button to toggle it to Midi Mode. Now all twenty-four faders, encoders, mutes, solos, records, selects, and more operate as MIDI controllers. Toggle back to DAW mode with the ‘Monitor/0’ button. Simple and powerful.

Pro Control

V-Control Pro’s Midi Mode lets you use Pro Control Main and Fader Packs for up to thirty-two channel strips of custom Midi control. And it integrates with V-Control Pro’s DAW control features for the best of both worlds. Just tap any eight-fader section’s ‘Mon0’ button to toggle it to Midi Mode. Now those eight faders, encoders, mutes, solos, records, selects, and more operate as MIDI controllers while the other devices can stay in DAW mode or also be toggled to Midi Mode.

Cubase / Nuendo

For Cubase/Nuendo 12 and later, use the Steinberg Midi Remote system to create a Midi Remote Device. Be sure to select the “V-Control Midi Mode” port. Now you can use their layout editor to set up any knobs, faders, and buttons you like. Be certain that Mapping Configurations are set to “Jump” mode so that the surface encoder, fader, or button will be updated to reflect the latest value being mapped.

For Cubase/Nuendo 11 and earlier, use the Track Quick Controls and VST Quick Controls features.

MIDI Implementation

MIDI Mode outputs CC messages for buttons, encoders, and faders with values from 0 to 127. CC feedback messages can be used to turn buttons off/on, set faders, and set encoder LED rings. Sysex messages can be used to display text.
